    Been a while
since I posted anything. Played a show at Koots Wednesday night. It was a whole heck of a lot of fun. We repeat the experience in the 2009 Alaska battle for the Warped tour at Koots this Saturday May 9th. We are the first band up at 9:00 pm. So if you ever felt like heckling us in front of many people. Here is your chance.

    Saturday night
we played at the Gold Bar in Palmer at the "Metal and Ink" show they put on. Had a great time, we played a good set, and people didn't leave. No pit, but there were people moving. Got some good laughs from some of our songs so all in all that was good. We still need to work on moving about and stage presence more. Didn't see much of the ink part. I think that part of the show was a bust. Spitshine played great, enjoyed seeing One Eyed Cowboy for the first time, though I left during their set, It was 3:00 am and I had been up since 5:00 am. The two younger scream metal bands... well I think that is an acquired taste... like what we play. Skill wise they were excellent musicians.

    Almost finished
    49) Elvenblood - Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey

    finishing...
    50) Elvenborn - Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey (on the last 100 pages)

I didn't think I was going to make it. It was nice to get reading again. I had stopped reading at nights a few years ago. I then realized I needed reading glasses and really got back into it last year. I don't think I will churn out 50 in a year again, but I do have a stack of books waiting to be read.

In band news, Dec 27th show is in doubt. The Goldminer got shut down for health and fire code violations... again. Don't know if they will be open on the 27th. We will probably find out on the 27th...

    Happy Holidays!

Your result for The Chess Mess Test...

    The Queen's Knight

Congrats! Only 4-5% of the population score this!

The Queen’s Knight is armed with rose-colored glasses. The mundane comes to life and nature becomes expressive of spirit. The interesting thing about this Knight is the ability to switch from fantasy to reality. There are exceptions to the rule, but this is the type that may have had imaginary friends as a youngster. Their stuffed animals also were great companions. The Queen’s Knight will see the good in almost anyone or anything – but their depth of emotion can remain hidden even from themselves. Circumstances tend to reveal sudden responses.

Not all life is rosy and this Knight is not exempt from disappointment or frustration with humanity. They may feel incompetence when dealing with their own ethical values. Things aren’t simply white black, but a grand battle of Good versus Evil. Evil must be reckoned with but Good shall eventually win. It is not that they fight evil, but that they fight for the essence of moral good. Doing something good is quite satisfactory for them and indeed increases their happiness. It is when something is not reciprocated to them that they are saddened and disappointed by others. They learn that others aren’t as self-sacrificing.

The Queen's Knight is dominated by an inner world of intense feeling and deeply rooted ethics. They seek to form their life based on their views. They are highly curious of those around them so are readily accepting of others unless their values are being threatened. They promote insight and understanding amongst others and contribute well thought ideas. They however can be a bit too idealistic.

    A good vision of America...
with unfortunate examples of how far we need to go to get there.

I read this on the Frontiersman online today. A young high school student got a rude introduction to American party politics and the stench of racism and hate that still lingers in society today. She wrote a well thought out, respectful opinion. It's a shame some of the comments left were neither well thought out nor respectful.

    Ted Sadtler for President
I was two people standing on the corner of 5th and Gamble this morning waving a sign, "Write in Ted Sadtler for president". He can't be worse than the two major party candidates, plus he does like to dance.

    I finished #43

    43) Hunters of Gor - John Norman

Now it's time to read a different kind of book. I will keep reading the Gor books though.

Last night we played at the Gold Miner in Palmer, at their open mic. It was essentially just us. We started near around 9:45 and played for about an hour. We chased a bunch of pool players out. The "Ted Heads" were in force, our so called Perkins and friends groupies, so lots of beer was drunk by all. We were invited back to play on Saturday at 9:00. Should be interesting. Friday we are playing at the Wasteland. That should be even more interesting. So a busy weekend is at hand, through in work and I am going to be a very tired boy come Sunday night.

    42) Assassin of Gor - John Norman

I just might make 50, I do have a couple of short Gor books left, then a mix of mystery, humor and sci-fi. Now to keep the distractions away. I don't think I will try this again. I find myself putting the long involved books into the after the 50 are over pile.

Band wise we got an invite to play at a house party birthday yesterday btt never got a call on when or where. Oh well, open mic on Tuesday and another house party on Friday. Got in a good creative practice instead last night.

Lastly posted some videos of the band playing at Players House of Rock on Myspace.

    41) Berserker Lies - Fred Saberhagen

Friday nights brief open mic appearance was fun. There were actually people who had seen us before from our April show at the Paddleboat Cafe. I think we have gotten spoiled playing at places with monitors. We had a few timing problems because we couldn't hear each other very well, but no obvious train wrecks. Next Tuesday we are playing at an open mic at the Gold Bar in Palmer. The on Halloween at a house party in Anchorage. Should be a lot of fun.
